About Us
VOICE OF PEACE is a community-based organization which advocates for the eradication of gender-based violence (GBV) to advance community wellbeing. It is committed to advocacy for respect of human rights and ending all forms of violence against women and girls in the grass root communities of Kween district in Eastern Uganda, East Africa.
The organization promotes observance for human rights in a bid to realize behavioral change and shift in social-cultural norms hence attaining respect for human dignity.

STRATEGIES TO PREVENTION AND RESPONSE TO GBV
Addressing root causes of GBV is vital for long-term prevention.
We work to change social norms that condone violence and discrimination against women and girls through the following ways:
Ending Child /forced marriages
At Voice of Peace, we work to end child marriage by addressing its root causes and protecting girls through prevention, and encouraging
them to remain at school. We sensitize parents and children about the harmful effects of child marriages; through school visits, we work with religious, community leaders and families as we change mindsets and protect the girls.
Legal and human rights education
We educate communities on law of domestic violence, prohibition of torture, prevention of human trafficking, prohibition of female genital mutilation, marriage law and land law. We also educate communities on human rights, women and children, while enhancing coordination with the law enforcement to report and respond to cases.
